"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." ~ Unknown
Creating a personal practice is essential to maturing one's skills as a yoga practitioner. While drop-in classes help us to maintain a healthy body, reduce our stress levels, and feel good generally, they don't necessarily give us the tools and a theoretical understanding necessary for becoming a self-directed practitioner. It takes a dedicated progressive stages of practice to begin to tap into the subtler aspects of yoga that are lesser known, yet still very relevant to today's practitioner.
Practitioner's Series is designed to guide dedicated students to become a skillful self-directed practitioner for a rewarding sustainable home practice. Each successive stages will guide the practitioner in the direction of the more refined internal aspects of Hatha Yoga. Progressive stages of Practitioner's Series will offer the tools of Hatha Yoga practice and an embodied understanding of the subtle anatomy which governs their use. Each stage will offer a set sequence taught in a step-by-step progression to promote body memory, refinement, and to facilitate home practice.
Stage 1 is the crucial first step in building the foundation necessary for true progress to unfold, and is a requirement for subsequent stages of Practitioner's Series. In Stage 1, a set sequence, informed by my practice of Hatha Yoga and KiCheon, will explore universal qualities shared among many self-cultivation practices. Comprised of movements that are simple and safe, yet challenging and effective, this practice will be both suitable for beginners and insightful to experienced practitioners.
