"So hope for a great sea-change on the far side... Believe that further shore is reachable from here. Believe in miracles and cures and healing wells.” ~ Seamus Heaney
What a devastating and strange moment in time we are living in. I've been hopscotching through my own thoughts and feelings, unable to put into words how to make sense of this surreal and startling new realm we find ourselves in. I have been thinking of you, and hope that you are all managing okay. I truly hope that you and the people you care about are well and safe.
I want to honor each of you, for doing what you are doing to help and cope. Those of you working the front lines, thank you for your service and your bravery. And my heart goes out to those of you who have friends and family at various stages of the virus.
The physical, emotional and financial pain affecting us all are very palpable. And this microscopic virus is also attuning us to turn our attention to the larger scale of things - our interdependence and the necessity of living in concert with each other. It has fueled change that demands evolution from each and every one of us without regard for our particular predicament. If we can, may we open to discovering some unexpected silver linings to this extraordinarily challenging time. And may we respect each other's coping strategies as we manage this situation in our own way.
Even as the gravity of the news and the wave of uncertainty keep rolling towards us, let us not lose our "hope for a sea-change on the far side" and "believe in miracles and cures and healing wells.”
